Asian Pear, 'Tse Li'
Pyrus ussuriensis 'Tse Li'
Variety description: 'Tsu Li' ('Tse Li' or 'Su Li') is an ancient cultivar of pear from China which originates from Shandong province. Large fruit measures about 3" x 3.5". Green skin with prominent lenticels (pores). As the pears ripen, the skin changes to yellow with brown speckles. Crisp flesh, juicy and sweet with a trace of tartness and distinct aroma. Ripens early October in Connecticut. Fruit stores well. Early blooming, very showy tree. Partially self-fertile, we get a good fruit set every year without cross-pollination from another variety such as 'Ya Li'.
Yields are increased with cross pollination from another early blooming Asian pear. Grafted onto cold hardy P. ussuriensis seedling rootstock.
This tree will reach 25' at maturity.
