Name in Japanese and romaji: 村松櫻 Muramatsu Zakura

Notable characteristics: Lovely pink flowers are held up well above the foliage making for an excellent display pant.

Hybridizer, year introduced: Higuchi Yugen in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, 1955.

Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright, grows to 3.5' tall and 3.5' wide.

Flower form and size: Semi-double, 8-10".

Flower fragrance: Very light, sweet.

Bloom time: Mid-season Japanese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May.

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.

Plant size: With foliage this 6-7 yr. old specimen plant currently measures 2.5' tall and 2.5' wide. It has several thick woody trunks with numerous side branches. 

When we ship: Sold out for 2016, please check back in January, 2017.

We will dig this plant and pack the roots with moist coconut fiber for shipping. Our success rate for shipping older plants is excellent. Over the years, some of our older tree peony specimens have been sent across the country via UPS with great results, so if you live far from our nursery, do not let this deter you from acquiring some of our older plants.
