Variety description: Know as 'Pai Li' or 'Bai Li' 白梨 this ancient variety of Chinese pear has been grown in the Beijing area for centuries. The fruits are large, pyriform, and greenish yellow. The flesh is sweet and juicy. An excellent keeper, can be stored until March. The trees are vigorous.
Site requirements: Full sun location. Asian pears will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Soil pH of 6.5 is ideal. Trees will grow to 25' tall at maturity.
Hardiness: USDA zones 5-9.
Plant size: Grafted tree, 2-3 ft. tall with strong central leader.
