Paeonia, 'Sunny Boy' hybrid herbaceous peony

Notable characteristics: Full double flower, medium yellow petals with purple red flares at the base of the petals . Foliage dark green with stems very erect, standing 30 inches tall. Good for hybridizing. Outstanding plant, rarely offered.

Cultivar group, hybridizer, year introduced: Hybrid, Lanning, 1985.

Growth habit and size at maturity: Grows to 30" tall and 36" wide.

Flower form and size: Double, 6-7", borne on strong stems.

Flower fragrance: Lightly scented.

Bloom time: Early to mid-season herbaceous peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden bloom in late May

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.

Plant size: 4-5 'eyes' or buds with proportional roots. This size plant will most likely flower its first season.
