White Innocence, hybrid herbaceous peony
Notable characteristics: This is rare hybrid is notable for being the tallest herbaceous peony we grow as well as one of the latest blooming. Exuberant plants reach 4.5' tall and are covered with a profusion of pure white single blossoms. A stunning landscape specimen. Also great in early summer floral arrangements.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: P. albiflora x P. emodi, Saunders, 1947.
Growth habit and size at maturity: Upright, grows to 4.5' tall and 3.5' wide. May require staking.
Flower form and size: Single, 4-5" and upward facing. Excellent variety for landscape planting or cut flowers.
Flower fragrance: Very light.
Bloom time: Late season hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second or third week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 3-9.
Plant size: 4-5 'eye' plants with a well developed root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.
