Notable characteristics: Perfectly arranged rows of multi-toned pink petals are marked with deep red flares at the base. Golden stamens in the center of the blossom make a beautiful contrast with the petals. Vigorous grower and easy bloomer. Deer resistant. Herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide free. Grown in Connecticut.
Cultivar group, area of origin: Central Plains cultivar group, this historical cultivar originates from the famous peony growing area around Luoyang, in Henan province.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Semi-spreading habit, grows to 2.5' tall and 3' wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double form, 7-8".
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet.
Bloom time: Mid-season tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second or third week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven is USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem and a proportional root system. This size plant will most likely flower its second spring in the ground.
When we ship: Order now for FALL 2017 shipping. We operate like a CSA (community supported agriculture) where payment in received in advance of the harvest, and the produce is reserved for the customer. Our produce is our nursery stock, which can only be harvested in the fall, when the current season's growth is complete.
