Lindera benzoin, northern spice bush

$ 26

Lindera benzoin

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in part shade. Butter yellow fall foliage is best when planted in sunnier locations. Excellent choice for woodland gardens, where early spring flowers create a golden glow. Berries are a great source of food for fall migrating birds.

Grows into a large shrub  6'-8' tall and wide in just a few years. Plant in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, organically rich soil. Will also grow in full shade.

Plants are diecious (either male or female). These plants are seed grown and sex is unknown, so plant a few to ensure that you will have pollination for fruit production.

Plant size: 18" tall with a well developed root system. Grown in a 4" x 9" tree pot.

When we ship: FALL 2026
