Ficus, Mr. DiNunzio's white fig
Ficus carica
This excellent white fig came to us from the late Filomeno DiNunzio of Watertown, CT. For decades, Mr. DiNunzio ran a small but very well regarded nursery where he sold this fig as well as other greenhouse plants and vegetable starts. Mr. DiNunzio told how this fig traveled with him from Italy to Argentina, where he moved in the 1950s and then came with him to Connecticut when he immigrated to the United States in the 1960s. We have grown many fig cultivars and this one is outstanding. The fruit is large and resists splitting. The fruit is sweet with a pleasing honey taste. Overall highly recommended.
