Name in Chinese and pin yin: 烏龍捧盛 Wu Long Peng Sheng
Notable characteristics: On mature blossoms, light cream carpels often appear in striking contrast to the very dark, magenta-pink petals. Highly recommended for beginning a tree peony collection. Very vigorous grower.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Central Plains group, Luoyang city, historical cultivar.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright and semi-spreading, grows to 5' tall and 5' wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double to anemone, 8". Very floriferous cultivar.
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet.
Bloom time: Early season Chinese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
