Aesculus parviflora, 'Rogers' Bottlebrush Buckeye
Variety description: This selection of bottle brush buckeye will bloom a year or two earlier than a seed grown plant. It also blooms a week or so later than most seed grown plants.
Bottle brush buckeye is a spectacular native shrub with a magnificent mid-summer floral display. This broad, mounding shrub spreads by stolons to colonize a large area. Leaves are composed of several 3-8'' long leaflets which turn a rich butter yellow in the fall. Bottlebrush shaped inflorescences are held upright and are prolific.
Ideal for understory woodland plantings or as a large mass in a shrub border.
Site requirements: Full sun location or shade. Not overly picky about soil type, but prefers moist, well drained soil.
Size at maturity: 8-12' high and 8-15' wide.
Hardiness: USDA zones 4-8.
Plant size: Own root plant, grown in a 4" x 9" tree pot.
