Paeonia, Maylis hybrid tree peony
Notable characteristics: Lavender-pink single form blooms with notched, crinkled petals. This is an unregistered hybrid bred from the famed Reverior nursery in France. We imported this plant about a decade ago, and it has proven to be a vigorous grower.
Hybridizer, year introduced: Jean-Luc Rivière, year unknown.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright, grows to 4' tall and 3.5' wide.
Flower form and size: Single, 5-6"
Flower fragrance: Very light, sweet.
Bloom time: Late-season hybrid tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven is USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 2 year old grafted tree peonies have 1-2 woody stems, with offshoot buds, and a graft root. The plant may or may not have some of its own roots already developed. This one may bloom its first spring in the ground, or will wait until the second spring.
