Cricket Hill Garden
Paeonia obovata var. Willmottiae, species woodland peony
$ 44
A much more robust grower than the more commonly seen Paeonia japonica. Large single white flowers with yellow to dark maroon stamens. Blooms about 10 days after P. japonica, around May 15th in our garden. In the mid-to-late summer, the seed pods burst open to reveal cobalt blue and scarlet seeds, which is an added attraction of this plant.
Hardy to zones 4-8. Best in light shade and soil high in organic matter.
Expect these woodland herbaceous peonies to grow to about 30'' tall and 24" wide. Flower size is about 3".
Plant size: 2 yr. old container grown seedling. Grown and shipped in a 2.5" x 5" band pot. These seedlings should bloom in about 2-3 years under good care.
When we ship: FALL 2026
