Paeonia, 'White Innocence' hybrid herbaceous peony
Notable characteristics: This rare hybrid is notable for being the tallest herbaceous peony we grow as well as one of the latest blooming. Exuberant plants reach 4.5' tall and are covered with a profusion of pure white single blossoms. A stunning landscape specimen. Also great in early summer floral arrangements.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: P. albiflora x P. emodi, Saunders, 1947.
Growth habit and size at maturity: Upright, grows to 4.5' tall and 3.5' wide. May require staking.
Flower form and size: Single, 4-5" and upward facing. Excellent variety for landscape planting or cut flowers.
Flower fragrance: Very light.
Bloom time: Late season hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second or third week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 3-9.
Plant size: 4-5 'eye' plants with a well developed root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.
