If you share our excitement and love of peonies, you have found the right place. At Cricket Hill Garden we are madly
devoted to these plants. The business sprang out of our desire to see and grow more peonies. Beginning in 1988, we
planted our first peonies and have expanded to about seven acres, creating a terraced woodland garden we call
.
We have tended and grown hundreds of different kinds of peonies in our 20+ years here. We enjoy sharing the beauty in
bloom and welcome hundreds of visitors in May and June. . Peonies are seductive and magical plants, and by far some of
the most beautiful flowers you can grow. It is easy to come under their spell.
Summer hours for garden visits:
to August 31st - Thursday- Saturday, 10-4 pm
We still have a good selection of potted peonies for those of you who live nearby or are
traveling and would like to stop in and see us this summer. We will be working and tending
the garden and are happy to see visitors during our open days, or by appointment.

Cricket Hill Garden
is a plant nursery established in 1989 devoted to introducing American gardeners to the beauty of Chinese tree and herbaceous peonies.
Tree peonies are the Chinese national flower and have been popular since the 7th century. In fact, the tree peony is synonymous with
the phrase "spring flower". Tree peonies represent good fortune, love and prosperity, and are considered the essence of the Yin (female)
element in nature. The plant itself is considered male, thus it has supreme unity in both the male and female elements.
These woody shrubs reach an average size of 4-5 feet in height, growing well in USDA zones 4-9. It is our pleasure to introduce these
great varieties of peonies in America. We were pioneers in seeking out and growing named cultivars and have established a reference
garden for tree peonies. In addition to Chinese plants, we grow Japanese and American peonies. We search out the best tree, herbaceous
and intersectional peonies and have grown more than 300 cultivars over the years. We are also working on new hybrids of herbaceous peonies.
