Winemaker and Herbalist European Elderberry Pair

Regular price $ 50.00 Sale price $ 45.00
This pair consists of two varieties of European elderberry; 'Samdal' and 'Haschberg.' These will cross pollinate one another. These are productive and large fruited selections of S. nigra. Both are grown commercially in Europe.
Elderberries have been used for centuries in both North America and Europe for a variety of deserts and home remedies. They are a virtually care free fruiting shrub which is a must have for the home garden. The flowers and berries can be used for an array of culinary and medicinal purposes. Elderberry pies, jams, wine, tinctures, cordials, the list goes on and on. Bees feast on the nectar of the flowers, and song birds relish the berries, if you do not pick them first. Luckily deer seem to stay away from the elderberries here.
