Notable characteristics: Single blossoms resemble that of 'Snow Lotus' tree peony. This unique, seed grown tree peony flower exhibits an unusual characteristic in its numerous golden central stamens. Vigorous grower and prolific bloomer. Mid-season bloomer.
Hybridizer: Open-pollinated seedling grown by Cricket Hill Garden.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Spreading, grows to 4' tall and 5' wide.
Flower form and size: Single, 8-10".
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet.
Bloom time: Mid-season Chinese rockii tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the third week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven is USDA zones 4-9. P. rockii cultivars are particularly drought resistant once established.
Plant size: With foliage this plant currently measures 3.5' tall and 3.5' wide. It has multiple thick woody stems with numerous side branches. This plant exhibits a wide, spreading habit.
