Variety description: This hardy, sweet apricot has a large, round fruit with a trace of blush on a light orange background. Firm, moderately juicy flesh with a sweet, slightly tart, old-time apricot flavor. Excellent for fresh eating. Vigorous grower and consistently productive apricot variety. Fast ripening and early harvest. Requires another apricot for cross pollination. This variety was introduced by Dr. Tom Toyama of the Washington State University apricot breeding program in 1989.
Site requirements: Full sun location. Apricots will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Soil pH of 6.0-7.0 is required.
Size at maturity: 12-15'.
Pests and diseases: Susceptible to Cytospora canker. Plum curculio never passes up a good apricot.
Hardiness: USDA zones 5-9.
Plant size: Grafted tree, 2-3' with strong central leader. Organically grown by Cricket Hill Garden, in compliance with CT NOFA Farmer's Pledge.
