This peony will be available for fall 2021 shipping, ordering will be open in early spring 2021.

Name in Japanese and romaji: 越の雪 Koshino-yuki 

Notable characteristics: When the blossoms first open, the interior petals are blush pink, fading to pure white after day or two. Large sized petals are loose and ruffled. Exposed green ovaries at the center of the flower. This variety is a visitor favorite.

Koshi is an ancient name for the region of Japan in which Niigata is located. 

Hybridizer, year introduced: This cultivar was bred by Higuchi Yūgen of Niigata.

Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright, grows to 3.5' tall and 3.5' wide.

Flower form and size: Semi-double, 8".

Flower fragrance: Very light, sweet.

Bloom time: Mid-season Japanese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May.

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.

Plant size: 
1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem, with offshoot buds, and a well developed root system. This one may bloom its first spring in the ground, or will wait until the second spring.
