Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Northwest (rockii) cultivar group, Chen Dezhong of the Peace Peony Garden in Gansu province, 1996. Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright, grows to 5' tall and 5' wide. Flower form and size: Flowers on young plants are lotus form, mature blossoms are 8-10" full double form. Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet. One of the most fragrant tree peonies in our garden. Bloom time: Late-season Chinese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May. Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9. Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem with a proportional root system.
