Variety description: Selection from seeds from the George Slate pawpaw collection by John Gordon in Amherst, New York. These selections bear small to medium sized fruit (110 g/fruit) maturing in late August to mid-September. Fruit have golden flesh and skin that yellows upon ripening. Fruit flavor is good with no aftertaste but can have an astringent mouthfeel. Productive trees (up to 65 pounds of fruit per year). A remarkable bloom makes it a good pollinator for other varieties.

Very vigorous grower, with longer and straighter leaves than most pawpaw varieties, adding an extra element of interest to this tree as a landscape subject.

Site requirements: Full sun location with evenly moist soil. Pawpaws will grow in the shade but fruit set will be poor.

Size at maturity: Trees can be maintained at about 15' tall. Pawpaws sucker readily.

Pests and diseases: None.

Hardiness: Native from New York west to southeastern Nebraska, and south to northern Florida and eastern Texas. Will grow in USDA zones 5-9.

Plant size: Grafted tree, about 2' tall with a well developed root system. Will likely produce fruit in 4-5 years if given good care.
