Name in kanji and romaji: 新扶桑司 Shin Fusotsukasa
Notable characteristics: Large flowers consist of crinkled and waved petals in a shade of milky white with faint hints of pink at the base. Dwarf plant, growing to only 2’ tall and 2.5’ wide.
Bred by Saburo Watanabe 渡部三郎 of Shimane and released in 1983.
Growth habit and size at maturity: Semi-dwarf plant, grows to 2.5' tall and 2.5' wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double to full double, to 8".
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet, slight.
Bloom time: Mid-season Japanese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 woody stem with a proportional root system.
