Name in romaji: Mikasa-yama
Notable characteristics: Mid-pink semi-double blossoms are bountiful on this mid-season blooming Japanese tree peony. This cultivar is named for the famous mountain in Nara Prefecture in southeastern Japan. Flowers have a light, sweet fragrance. Vigorous grower.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10-12 years old): Upright habit, grows to 4.5' tall and 5' wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double blossoms to 8".
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet, slight.
Bloom time: Early-season Japanese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: With foliage this 10 year old plant currently measures 4' tall and 4' wide. It has multiple thick woody trunks with numerous side branches. A excellent specimen plant with a well balanced form, ready for a premier spot in your garden.
