Notable characteristics: Buds open a deep pink which fades to a "cherry blossom" pink at full bloom. Vigorous grower and prolific bloomer.
Breeder: This cultivar was introduced by the famous Japanese tree peony breeder Shotaro Nago (長尾次太郎). Begining around 1897 at his nursery in Niigta, Shotaro worked on introducing improved cultivars of tree peonies. By his death in 1930, he had produced over 60 new varieties.

Flower form and size: Somewhat ruffled, semi-double, 8-10".
Flower fragrance: Light and floral.
Bloom time: Late mid-season tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem with a proportional root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.
