Name in Chinese and pin yin: 飛燕紅裝 Fei Yan Hong Zhuang

Notable characteristics: Silver-red blossoms with darker veining and flares, contrast with lighter colored petals. This tree peony is named for the Han Dynasty dancer, Zhao Fei Yan, who so enchanted the Emperor Cheng with her beauty that she rose to become Empress of China.

Cultivar group, area of origin: Central Plains group, Zhaolou Peony Garden, 1964.
