Variety description: Large blood red, heart shaped fruit with red flesh. Excellent flavor, one of the best plums on the market. Slightly tart when cooked. Good for eating fresh, jams and jellies. Dries well. Needs another Japanese plum such as 'Shiro' for cross pollination.
Site requirements: Full sun location. Plums will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Soil pH of 6.0-7.0 is required.
Size at maturity: 12-15'.
Pests and diseases: Susceptible to Cytospora canker. Beware plum curculio.
Hardiness: USDA zones 5-9.
