Paeonia lactiflora, 'Do Tell' herbaceous peony PICK UP
Notable characteristics: First registered in 1946, these flowers are still admired more than 75 years later. The anemone form flowers are about 5.5'' in diameter with good stem strength. Eye-catching dark pink, light pink and pale yellow centers contrast with the soft pink outer petals.
Cultivar group, hybridizer & year introduced: P. lactiflora, Auten, 1946.
Growth habit and size at maturity : Upright, grows to 2.5' tall and 3' wide. Very good stem strength, does not require staking.
Flower form and size: Anemone or 'Japanese' form, 5-6" and upward facing. Excellent variety for landscape planting or cut flowers.
Flower fragrance: Light, sweet scent.
Bloom time: Mid-season hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May or first week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
