Notable characteristics: Flowers first open a reddish-bronze-yellow, quickly changing to a clear yellow, with reddish flares at the center. It is fascinating to see it change over time, in a matter of days. This is another unusual intersectional peony, which is a cross between a tree and a herbaceous peony. 

Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Intersectional peony, Roger Anderson, 1990.

Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright and spreading, grows to 2.5' tall and 4' wide.

Flower form and size: Semi-double to double, 7-8" and upward facing. Flowers held well above and around the dark green foliage.

Flower fragrance: Light, sweet.

Bloom time: Late season 'Itoh' intersectional hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first through third week of June. Consistently one of the last peonies to bloom in our garden.

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.


Plant size: 4-5 'eye' with a well developed root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.
