Burning Colors, Chinese tree peony
Name in Chinese and pin yin: 霓虹幻彩 Ni Hong Huan Cai
Notable characteristics: Semi-double hundred proliferate form blossoms in a bright shade of reddish purple. Large greenish colored petaloids at the center of the flowers. Vigorous and easy to grow.
Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Central Plains cultivar group, bred by the Team 9 of the Zhaolou Peony Garden, Heze, 1972.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Semi-spreading habit, grows to 2.5' tall and 3' wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double, to 5-7'' in diameter.
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet, strong.
Bloom time: Early to mid-season Chinese tree peony, always one of the first tree peonies to open in our USDA zone 6A garden, usually in the second week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have one woody stems and a proportional root system. This size plant will flower its first spring in the ground.

We operate like a CSA (community supported agriculture) where payment in received in advance of the harvest, and the produce is reserved for the customer. Our produce is our nursery stock, which can only be harvested in the fall, when the current season's growth is complete.
