Name in Chinese and pin yin: 紫海銀波 Zi Hai Yin Bo

Notable characteristics: Bright purple
-violet blossoms carry a heavy fragrance of sweet perfume, amid a torrent of petals. Deer resistant. Herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide free. Grown in Connecticut.

Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Northwest (rockii) cultivar group, Chen Dezhong of the Peace Peony Garden in Gansu province, 1996.

Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright, grows to 5' tall and 5' wide.

Flower form and size: Flowers on young plants are lotus form, mature blossoms are 8-10" full double form.

Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet. One of the most fragrant tree peonies in our garden.

Bloom time: Late-season Chinese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the last week of May.

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.

Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem with a proportional root system. This size plant will most likely flower its second spring in the ground.

Growing our own stock allows us to offer the rare and unusual plants we sell as well as provide the highest quality plants to the discerning gardener. We do not use synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fungicides in our nursery production.
