Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Rockii group, this cultivar was hybridized by Chen Dezhong of the Peace Peony Garden in Lanzhou, Gansu province, China. Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright and semi-spreading habit, to 5' tall and 5' wide. Flower form and size: Double form blossoms, 7-8". Flower fragrance: Delicate, sweet. Bloom time: Mid- season Chinese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of May. Blooms at least a week before other rockii type tree peonies. Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9. Plant size: Mature specimen tree peonies have several woody stems, with side branching, and a well developed root system. These plants have many flower buds set for next season.
