Themis, hybrid tree peony
Notable characteristics: Semi-double blossoms with two rows of petals, an inner circle which curves upward and inward in a cup-like effect, and an outer circle of petals which lie flat. The color is light pink with a hint of blue, deepening to red at the base. Named after the Greek goddess of law, order and justice.
Cultivar group, hybridizer: Lutea hybrid, Nassos Daphnis.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): 3' tall and 3' wide.
Flower form and size: Single to light semi-double, 5''.
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet.
Bloom time: Late-season tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first or second week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 yr grafted tree peonies have 1 stem and a proportional root system. May bloom its first spring in the ground.
