Cricket Hill Garden
Paeonia rockii, 'Peony Heaven Purple Lotus' rockii tree peony
Notable characteristics: We selected this outstanding plant from a group of seedling plants we received from a Chinese nursery in the late 1990s. Over the years we have culled many from this group; most were unremarkable, this one, however is special. Very floriferious, single mid-purple blossoms have the characteristic rockii dark flares at the base of the petals. Blossoms are fragrant. The plant is upright and tall growing, reaching 5.5' with a pleasing vase shape. Highly recommended! Deer resistant. Herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide free. Grown in Connecticut.
Hybridizer, year introduced: Selected at Cricket Hill Garden, we will be registering this variety with the American Peony Society as a unique cultivar.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright habit, to 5.5' tall and 3' wide.
