Notable characteristics: We are pleased to offer this rare cultivar from Japan. With its sparse, spidery petals, it is quite the minimalist departure from the typical extravagance of a Japanese tree peony blossom. Petals are stiff and strong, this flower lasts for about a week.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright, grows to 3' tall and 3.5' wide.
Flower form and size: Single, 5-6".
Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet.
Bloom time: Very early season Japanese tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 1 year old tree peonies have 1 woody stem, with offshoot buds, and a well developed root system. Size of plant with foliage the first year is 12-18" tall. Likely to bloom the second year in ground.
