Notable characteristics: Large yellow blossoms with light red flares with a very distinct center. The pink tipped carpels at the center of the flower makes it very unique. Mature plants are long blooming, with flowers opening over the span of two weeks. Fast growing with many blooms. Large, dark green leaves stay unblemished into autumn, making this plant an excellent landscape subject. Winner of the American Peony Society Award of Landscape Merit and the Gold Medal. Deer resistant. 

Cultivar group, hybridizer and year introduced: Intersectional peony, Don Hollingsworth, 1984.

Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Low and spreading, grows to 2.5' tall and 4' wide.

Flower form and size: Semi-double form, 7-8"  blossoms are upward and side facing. Flowers are held well above and around the dark green foliage.

Flower fragrance: Light, sweet and lemony fragrance.

Bloom time: Late season 'Itoh' intersectional hybrid peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first through third week of June. Consistently one of the last peonies to bloom in our garden.

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.


Plant size: 4-5 'eye' with a well developed root system. This size plant will most likely flower its first or second spring in the ground.

When we ship: Fall 2019 to USDA zones 4-9.
