Moonrise, hybrid herbaceous peony
Notable characteristics: Well formed, cup-shaped blossoms in the softest shade of creamy ivory. Flowers are nicely held above the foliage with a triple row of guard petals.
Hybridizer, year introduced: Hybrid, Saunders, 1949.
Growth habit and size at maturity: Grows to 36" tall and 36" wide.
Flower form and size: Single, 4-5", borne on strong stems.
Flower fragrance: Green scented.
Bloom time: Early-season herbaceous peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first or second week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: 4-5 'eyes' or buds with proportional roots. This size plant will most likely flower its first season.
