Name in Chinese and pin yin: 紅星雪原 Hong Xing Xue Yuan
Notable characteristics: A newer multi-colored peony from China, one we are excited about offering. A must have for the fragrant peony collector! Lush white petals have a pink cast with distinctive red flecks around the center of the petal.
Species, place of origin: Paeonia lactiflora, Luoyang city, Henan province, China.
Growth habit and size at maturity : Grows to 3.5' tall and wide.
Flower form and size: Well-formed double blossoms, 5". Flowers will droop a bit if not supported.
Flower fragrance: Very strong scent, incredibly pleasing perfume.
Bloom time: Mid-season herbaceous peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of June.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 3-8.
Plant size: 4-5 'eyes' or buds with proportional roots. This size plant will most likely flower its second season in the ground.
