Variety description: Small to medium sized yellow fruit with tender, melting flesh and sweet aroma. Ripens in late August. Heirloom; grown for more than 200 years.
Vigorous and upright tree. Productive and blight resistant.
Discovered as a chance seedling in Jenkintown, PA about 1794. This cultivar is also know as 'Early Sugar Pear.'
Site requirements: Full sun location. Pears will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Soil pH of 6.5 is ideal. Hardiness: USDA zones 4-8. Plant size: Grafted tree, 2-3 FT, with strong central leader. MATURE SIZE 10-12 FT. When we ship: Available for SPRING 2020 shipping.
