Variety description:This naturally occurring hybrid between a plum and apricot (P. armeniaca × P. cerasifera). Remarkable dark purple skin. Sweet flesh is a dark reddish yellow. Reported to be self-fertile, though we have seen no evidence of this. White blossoms open few days later than true apricot varieties. This year we planted similar hybrids imported from Europe, where they are popular with fruit hobbyists, for pollination. Introduced to the United States by Raintree Nursery.
