Tree peony, Pink Lotus #42, 7 year old plant
Ruffled flowers in a deep, warm pink, with a small dark flare at the center, accented with bright gold. This fast growing, hardy cultivar is a seed grown cross of a Chinese rockii peony and a Japanese tree peony. The resulting plant is very vigorous, unique, one-of-a-kind tree peony. Highly recommended, and easy to grow.
Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright and slightly spreading, grows to 4.5' tall and 4' wide.
Flower form and size: Semi-double blossoms, 7-8".
Flower fragrance: Light, sweet.
Bloom time: Early, mid-season tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the first week of mid-May.
Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.
Plant size: This 7 year old tree peony has 7-8 woody stems, is 3.5 ft. tall now with a lot of new growth. Well developed root system, potted up into a 10 gallon container. Buds were removed this year so it would concentrate on growth. This gives the plant more energy for making buds for spring 2021.
