Name in Chinese and pin yin: 紫鳳羽 Zi Feng Yu

Notable characteristics: Striking anemone form, great for cutting and bouquets. Lustrous, fragrant flowers in a bright purple-pink that are sure to be noticed in the garden. Compact growing cultivar is an excellent choice for landscape use.

Species, place of origin: Paeonia lactiflora, Luoyang city, Henan province, China.

Growth habit and size at maturity: Grows to 3" tall and wide. No staking necessary. 

Flower form and size: Tight anemone, 5", upright blossoms borne on strong stems, no need to stake.

Flower fragrance: Strong, sweet scent.

Bloom time: Mid-season herbaceous peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second week of June.

Zone hardiness: Proven in USDA zones 4-9.

Plant size: 4-5 'eyes' or buds with proportional roots.
