Cricket Hill Garden is a plant nursery established in 1989 devoted to introducing American gardeners to the beauty of Chinese tree and herbaceous peonies. Tree peonies are the Chinese national flower and have been popular since the 7th century. In fact, the tree peony is synonymous with the phrase "spring flower". Tree peonies represent good fortune, love and prosperity, and are considered the essence of the Yin (female) element in nature.

 

These woody shrubs reach an average size of 4-5 feet in height, growing well in USDA zones 4-9. It is our pleasure to introduce these great varieties of peonies in America.  The wonderful poetic names are not made up by us, they are all Chinese - where else would we find a "Green Dragon in a Pink Pool"? We search out the best tree peonies and herbaceous peonies and have grown more than 300 varieties before we offer them for sale.
