Pink Peonies

Pink peonies come in a wide spectrum of colors, from the palest pink to the deepest fuchsia. In fact, what may look like a white peony at first glance is actually a pink peony upon closer inspection. One of the most enjoyable aspects to strolling through our peony garden in Thomaston, CT., is the visual stimulation you get from the vibrant colors of our flowers. Of course, the heavenly aromas wafting through the spring air also entice many of our visitors to drop by for a little rest and relaxation in the gardens.

Pink peonies are the most common of colors, yet their full spectrum can range from whitish-pink to deep maroon to a pinkish-blue color. Some of our most spectacular pink varieties look anything but pink, as they take on a reddish-orange hue. Perhaps nothing is more beautiful than a 'Necklace with Precious Pearls' peony basking in the morning sunshine, with drops of dew on the delicate petals glimmering in the golden light. Pink peonies are gorgeous, regardless of their shade.

Many people who start out growing peonies opt for shades of pink, simply because the diversity of color adds so much character and depth to any garden. You may want to experiment by starting out with some light and dark pinks mixed in with other flowers that complement your peonies. In our garden, we have blue irises, yellow daffodils, and a host of other colorful plants that bring out the vibrancy of our Chinese peony trees. When gardening, don't be afraid to use color and contrast to truly draw in the eye for the most aesthetically pleasing garden design.

Pink Peonies--A True Art Form
The Chinese believe that gardening is an art on the same level as painting, poetry, and music ... and we agree. In our eyes, pink peonies of different hues simply demand your attention, and there is nothing more pleasing to the senses than the sights and aromas of a peony garden. If you live in Connecticut and wish to visit Cricket Hill Garden in Thomaston, springtime is the best time to see and smell our blooming peony trees at their finest. You may wish to pay us a visit in May. The peak bloom time is May 10 - 25th, though this can vary with the weather.
