February

Dear Gardening Friends,

February has settled in for us with very cold temperatures and a deep snow cover. Snow is a good insulator for plants which must endure freezing and we are glad to finally have the blanket over the garden.

We can still ship some peonies to USDA zone 8 &9. Cool winter weather is advantageous for transplant in these very warm spring and hot summer climates. This period to early to mid-February is ideal for setting the roots, before the green leaf growth begins in spring. So if you were unable to plant earlier, see what we have in the peony items listed. If we can ship it now, it will noted with the individual descriptions.

Orders for USDA zones 4-7 will be reserved for spring. Shipping for these zones begins in March. The window of spring transplant is narrow and ends in early April. Get your order in early, stock is very limited this year. Some items are listed as shipping Fall 2015, please note that in the plant description.

Thank you all for your sincere interest and support which keeps us going and growing!

See us this week at the Hartford Flower Show, Sunday Feb. 22nd. At 11am, Kasha Furman will give a talk on "The World of Peonies" and at 2 pm. Dan Furman's topic is "Planning the Backyard Orchard".
