In China's Gansu Province, in the far northwest, they grow hundreds of variations of rockii tree peonies. One of our biggest problems is sorting them out and trying to evaluate which ones are best.
This particular one, known as "Blue Jade in Three Colors" surprised as as fast growing and hardy, and quick to bloom in the double form. Flowers are light pink-white with lavender overtones, 7-8" in diameter, in a multi-petal golden circle form. In the center of the flower, the petals are marked with a maroon flare, which gives you clues to its rockii heritage. Flowers are very fragrant and are held well above the foliage.
All rockii hybrids are vigorous and tall growing,
and extremely floriferous. Expect these to grow into large specimen shrubs, multi-branched, 5 ft. tall and 4 ft. wide by the 8-to-10th year. If space is an issue, they
may be pruned after blooming to keep them smaller.
Plant is judged as a 2-3 year old size, with 2 thick woody stems, size now is 24" tall.
>Will grow in USDA Zones 4-9. Limited stock on this item. Order and reserve for spring dormancy
shipping to USDA zones 4-7.
