Champion Red Jade Belt
Rockii Chinese tree peony, 6-7 yrs. old,
6+ woody stems. All rockii hybrids are vigorous and tall growing, and extremely floriferous. These are large plants, average height now is over 40 inches tall and 36 inches wide. Flowers are mid-to-
light reddish, with lavender and dark purple flares at the
petal base. RARE AND LIMITED STOCK.
Flowers are 8-10" in diameter, in the
anemone form and are held upright, above the foliage. If fragrance is important to you, note that these flowers have a very dense, sweet fragrance. All rockii hybrids grow vigorously and tall, and are extremely floriferous. These plants are native to Gansu Province, in northwestern China and are extremely tolerant to a wide temperature range. Summers in Gansu can reach 100 degrees easily, and winters are below zero. In Connecticut, we have found rockii hybrids to be some of our favorite tree peonies.
These specimen plants have bloomed since 2009, and have been verified for color and form. This double form flower is very rare for rockii tree peonies, many of them are the simpler lotus form. As a young plant or in very warm years in which the flowers open prematurely this variety will bloom in the lotus form. Expect this tree peony
to grow to 4 ft. wide and 5+ ft. tall in 4 years. Beautiful specimen plant, very unusual. Will be field dug to order in fall 2012 for Zones 4-9.
