Stock#: TPC-G Price: $209.00 We offer two tree peonies in this collection. These very striking Chinese tree peonies are hybrids of the species peony Paeonia Rockii native to Gansu province in China. These peonies are desirable for several reasons; shimmering, densely fragrant flowers bloom from vigorous tall growing plants with finely cut foliage. In our garden they have proven to be tolerant of drought and moderate shade. Snow Lotus and Cup of Shining Night, 3 yr. old size. Buy this beautiful pair of tree peonies, the yin and yang, night and day of colors. Snow Lotus (Xue Lian) Elegant lotus form flowers, bloom 8-10’’ and are very fragrant. The iridescent white petals are strikingly set off by the deep maroon flares at their base. Plant blooms quickly with an upright habit. This variety is a cultivated cousin of the wild species tree peony Paeonia rockii indigenous to Gansu province and surrounding areas in Northwest China. P. rockii is named after the American botanical adventurer Joseph Rock who introduced it to the West in the 1920s. Since it first came to the attention of American gardeners ninety years ago it has been highly prized and sought after, just as it has been in its native land for centuries. Cup of Shining Night (Ye Guang Bei) The flowers are outstanding and large size, 8-10’’, blooming in a very dark, red-black color with deep black flares at the petal base. Flowers bloom in the lotus form with a dense, sweet fragrance. Vigorous, tall growing, and extremely hardy, this variety will easily reach 5’ tall and wide at maturity. This plant is named for the jade wine goblets traditionally made in China's Gansu province. Hybridized by Chen Dezhong of the Peony Peace Garden in Lanzhou, Gansu province in northwest China and introduced in 1994. 3 year old plants have at least 2 stems and large, well developed root systems.
