All three are early to mid blooming, so this collection will make a striking display in your garden. Hibiscus with a Pink Complexion (Rou Fu Rong) True pink, deeply ruffled 8-9’’ flowers bloom in the semi-double rose form. Plants grow vigorously and bloom easily. Shorter stature, 3’ tall and wide at maturity, makes it ideal for the front of the garden. Introduced by Team 10 of the Zhaolou Peony Garden in 1975. Black Dragon Holds a Splendid Flower (Wu Long Peng Sheng) A semi-double to anemone 8’’ fragrant flowers face upwards. On mature blossoms light cream carpals often appear in striking contrast to the very dark magenta-red petals. Grows quickly, reaching 4.5’ tall and wide, the tallest of this trio,for the back of the garden. Very floriferous, a classical variety ideal for beginning a peony collection. Flying Swallow in a Red Dress (Fei Yan Hong Zhuang) Silver red, 8’’ flowers in rose to anemone form. Darker veining and flares contrast with lighter colored petals, fragrance is densely sweet. Plant has a semi-spreading habit and will reach 4’ tall and wide at maturity, which is the mid-range for this 3 plant collection. Named for the Han Dynasty dancer who so enchanted the Emperor Cheng with her lithe movements that she became known as Flying Swallow. Introduced by the Zhaolou Peony Garden of Heze in 1964. 2-3 year old plants have at least 2, often 3 stems and large, well developed 12’’ root system.
