Scarlet Heaven, intersectional, 3-5 eye size
Stock#: ih-sh2
Price: $99.00
This is a brilliant red color, very well named. It will brighten up any sunny area of the garden. This peony is an intersectional, which is a cross between a tree and a herbaceous peony. It will grow in full sun, or 5-6 hours of sun, in well-drained soil. The flowers are large, scarlet to deep red color, 7-8 inches in diameter, with a light spicy fragrance. It is a fast growing plant, growing to about 34 inches tall and spreading.
It is still rare and not widely seen. It was hybridized by Roger Anderson in the U.S. and we think it is a worth having in a peony collection, especially if you like bright colors. We have very good plants available for transplanting in fall dormancy. Plants have 3 to 5 eyes, with well balanced roots. Do not confuse our sized plant with other vendors who grow in 3-inch pots, or others which plant multiple small roots in one pot for a larger look. The price might be tempting but blooms are years away in that micro-size. Our plants are field grown, fitting into 3-gallon sized pots and are likely to bloom in one more year after planting.
This peony can be shipped in fall dormancy to USDA zones 4-9. Order and reserve early.
