Cora Louise, intersectional peony, 3-5 eye size
Stock#: ih-cl3
Price: $99.00
This is a light lavender color, with darker reddish purple flares at the base of the petals. The flower color will lighten as the flower ages. Petals are full and ruffled, and look like they are made of heavy satin. This plant attracts much attention in the garden. This peony is an intersectional, which is a cross between a tree and a herbaceous peony.
It will grow in full sun, or 5-6 hours of sun, in well-drained soil. The flowers are large, 8 inches in diameter, with a light, sweet fragrance. It is a fast growing plant, growing to about 32 inches tall and spreading. In the fall, after the frost, it is cut down and returns each spring as a larger plant. It is still rare and still not widely seen. It was hybridized by Roger Anderson in the U.S. Roots have 3-5 eyes, and are substantial, with balanced roots, likely to bloom the 2nd year after planting.
This peony can be shipped in fall dormancy to USDA zones 4-9. Order and reserve early. If you would like to visit, we do have this one potted for purchase at the nursery this spring.
