Callies Memory, 3-5-eye size intersectional peony

Stock#: ih-cm-2
Price: $99.00
Flowers first open a reddish-bronze-yellow, quickly changing to a clear yellow, with reddish flares at the center. It is fascinating to see it change over time, in a matter of days. This is another unusual intersectional peony, which is a cross between a tree and a herbaceous peony.
It is still rare and not widely seen. It was hybridized by Roger Anderson in the U.S. and we think it is a very worthy plant to have in any peony collection. It will grow in full sun, or 5-6 hours of sun, in well-drained soil. The flowers are large, 7-8 inches in diameter, with a light fragrance. It is a fast growing plant, height to about 34 inches tall and spreading. In the fall, it is cut down, to return as a larger plant every season.
Roots have at least 3-5 eyes, and are substantial, but will likely need 1 more year to bloom. Our plants are field grown and fit into a 3-gallon, 10" sized pots, so do not compare to plants grown in 4 inch pots.
This plant will grow in USDA Zones 4-9.
This peony can be shipped in dormancy to USDA zones 4-7 in spring 2012. Zones 8 & 9 will ship in fall.
